SOCIALISM: STOP IT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE

I'm not the only one who sees these ominous signs that are happening before our eyes. I know, you are probably going to say I'm paranoid, wacko or worse, but, I too, like the writer of this article set forth below, have a good knowledge of history. Remember, "He who ignores history is condemned to repeat it." We still have time to stop this march to socialism. If enough of us speak up, we can prevent the takeover by a government that has consistently failed to prevent toxic food, toxic water, toxic drugs, toxic toys, deteriorating infrastructure, corruption and wasteful spending by both Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

All the while, China is on the move securing for themselves exclusive rights to natural resources that we need to be preeminent in a world that wants to destroy us. Islam is hellbent on converting the world to their religion or killing those who refuse to convert. Nuclear weapons remain and continue to proliferate in the hands of maniacal dictators. And now we have our own Chamberlain, appeasing these rogue leaders including Ahmahdinijhad, Hugo Chavez and so many others who our President coddles with appeasing language while he scolds and threatens Israel. Wow! I am really worried about the cheers and swooning at the Obama rock concerts. I am not going to be silenced. There's too much at stake even if many of you don't think so.

Or, is it just that you have to have all these government hand outs even at the expense of losing what made this country great? What is happening to the American spirit? Surely, it's still there. I hope so.

One more point: Both the President and the members of Congress exempted themselves from all of the various health care plans being proposed. If that doesn't raise questions in your mind, I would have to say you have closed your minds, and that spells real trouble.

Now read Ms. Geller's article:

I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied history all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes, these exist but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about 10 - 15 years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demanded and then codified into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people whom we knew could never pay back? Why? We learned recently that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September.

Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "We the People," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about.) The list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x 10. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more important.)

Mr.. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change...radical change. Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now. This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker.. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission.

And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, wherethey were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and...change. And the people surely got what they voted for. (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.) Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years - a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency - it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong, close my eyes, have another latte and ignore what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me; others laugh or think I am foolish, naive, or both.. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe - and why I believe it. I pray I am wrong. But, I do not think I am.

About the author via Google....

Pamela "Atlas" Geller began her publishing career at The New York Daily News and subsequently took over operation of The New York Observer as Associate Publisher. She left The Observer after the birth of her fourth child, but remained involved in various projects including American Associates, Ben Gurion University and being Senior Vice-President Strategic Planning and Performance Evaluation at The Brandeis School.

After 9/11, Atlas had the veil of oblivion violently lifted from her consciousness and immersed herself in the education and understanding of geopolitics, Islam, terror, foreign affairs and imminent threats the mainstream media and the government wouldn't cover or discuss.

Ok, without going into the whole of this posting, because really I have not got the time, I would like to point the following to this student of history.

I quote from her article "When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though".

Sorry to question your history, but Winston Churchill was never in the House of Lords in the 1930s, as he was a Member of Parliament, which would mean he would be in the House of Commons. The whole reason Churchill was elected leader in 1940, rather than Lord Halifax, was precisely because of the latter being in the House of Lords.

If Ms. Geller cannot get that basic fact as a student of history right, then why on earth should I believe anything else that she says.

I am also tired of the isn't Obama like Hitler routine, which he clearly isn't. Along with America is being turned into Socialist country. All you have to do is like at Sweden for example? Is the USA anything like Sweden, well no. Is it like Cuba, er no. Perhaps China, no again. Maybe Mynamar? I have no idea what Socialist Country the USA is meant to be like, because I have yet to see it.

It is true to say that their does appear to be a link between huge corporations and the federal Government, but a corporate economy and a socialist economy are two very different things.

There are many things that could be questioned about this administration but if you talk about if you ignore history then you are condemned to repeat it, I would say if you have no understanding of history and basic facts, then you should keep your opinion to yourself.

The picture is painted that Hitler was voted in. Complete rubbish. The Nazi Party vote in 1932 actually went down, because the worst of the great depression was over and he was appointed Chancellor by President Hindenburg, in a Cabinet which had a minority of Nazi Party posts.

It was only after the Reichstag was burnt down did the German Public flock to the Nazis. This was not mentioned by the student of history at all, but is viewed by many key historians as the turning point in Germany. This led to the banning the Communist Party, the Nazis were able to get just over 50% of the vote with their Fascist allies.

Finally, the Communists, Socialists and Social Democrats were all banned, so stop going on about Hitler being a Socialist, because clearly he wasn't and if anyone understands Socialism, nor is President Obama.

Oh by the way if you are going to credit someone on your blog, at least make sure it is the right person.

If I made a mistake in attribution, it was an innocent mistake if in fact it was a mistake. It's the content that matters in the post you refer to. But thanks for the info. I had that sent to me from someone I considered a reliable source. But, I repeat, the essence of what was said is all important.

And yes, Hitler was appointed, but I included the whole quote and didn't want to alter what was said...by either Ms. Geller or this Dollard. Who really knows who said it first?

But you are wrong to say Obama is not taking us to socialism. He is, and it's indisputable...it's a big government takeover of business, eg. GM, the banking system, education, a domestic militia he has advanced, cap and trade, and now health care. Call it whatever you want to, but it's still a government takeover, and, in my opinion, it's bad for our country.

I don't believe it is Socialism, but we can agree to disagree on that.

However, I am of the opinion that sometimes Government involvement is needed to restructure a sound industry, that has had financial problems due to mismanagement. I am not wishing for the Government to run such industries indefinitely. I am very concerned about special interests and their link with the Government.

So yes I agree with you that Government take overs are wrong, if they are indefinite, but if the short term they help then that is good.

I still believe you can have a mixed economy, with private and Government working together, as distinct entities. The problem is when the division becomes invisible, which I think is happening at the moment.

It is not good for any nation to look as though the Government is taking over everything. Equally, private organizations cannot be reckless in financial management and then expect the Government to bail them out.

In conclusion, I do agree with a lot you have to say,and can see why you are thinking socialism, but this link to private business is more akin to Germany and Italy in the 1930s, as it is to socialist and social democratic economies since 1945. To me it is elements of the past, but is involving into something new. What that continues to be remains to be seen. If it is the same at the time of the next election, then I will be very concerned.

Andrew, here's my response to your last comment:

There is only one good thing about the Obama administration's attempts to nationalize most health care and to begin to control Americans' energy consumption through cap-and-trade: clarity about the left. These attempts are enabling more and more Americans to understand the thinking and therefore the danger of the left.

The left has its first president -- with the possible exception of Franklin Delano Roosevelt -- and in the name of compassion for the sick and the poor and in the name of preventing worldwide environmental catastrophe, it is attempting to remake America.

In so doing some principles of the left are becoming clearer:

Principal One: The left, as distinct from traditional liberals, is not, and has never been, interested in creating wealth. The left is interested in redistributing wealth, not creating it. The left spends the wealth that private enterprise and entrepreneurial risk-taking individuals create.

The left does not perceive that poverty is the human norm and therefore asks, "Why is there poverty?" instead of asking the economic question that matters: Why is there wealth? And the obvious result of the left's disinterest in why wealth is created is that the left does not know how to create it.

Principal Two: The reason the left asks why there is poverty instead of why there is wealth is that the left's preoccupying ideal is equality -- not economic growth. And those who are preoccupied with equality are more troubled by wealth than by poverty. Ask almost anyone on the left -- not a liberal, but a leftist like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi -- which society they consider more desirable, a society in which all its members were equally lower middle class or one in which some were poor, most were middle class, and some were rich (i.e., America today). The further left they are the more they would prefer the egalitarian society.

Principal Three: The left everywhere seeks to make as big and powerful a state as possible. It does so because only the state can redistribute society's wealth. The idea of small government, the American ideal since its inception, is the antithesis of the left's ideal.

The cap-and-trade bill's control of American energy and the "ObamaCare" takeover of American health care will mean an unprecedented expansion of the state. Added to increased taxes and the individual becomes less and less significant as the state looms ever larger. Americans will be left to decide little more than what they do with vacation time -- just as Western Europeans do.

Principal Four: Virtually every totalitarian regime in the 20th century was left-wing. Inherent to all left-wing thought is a totalitarian temptation. People on the left know that not only are their values morally superior to conservative values, but that they themselves are morally superior to conservatives.

Therefore, the morally superior have the right, indeed the duty, to impose their values on the rest of us: what light bulbs we use, what cars we drive, what we may ask a prospective employee, how we may discipline our children, and, of course, how much of our earnings we may keep.

I admit, the right also wants to impose its values, but not with a big government mandate, so individuals still have the freedom they lack with the left. This can be demonstrated to a fifth-grader: Who wants more power -- those who want to govern a big state or those who want to govern a small state?

The President of the United States and much of the Democratic Party embody these left-wing principles. Right now, America's only hope of staying American rather than becoming European lies in making these principals as clear as possible to as many Americans as possible. The left is so giddy with power right now, we actually have a chance.
